As a Colorado elopement photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing couples whether that's for their engagement, weddings, or intimate elopements at many of these locations. Colorado has no shortage when it comes to breathtaking backdrops, so let’s get into these 25 locations that you should consider!

1. Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge, Colorado is located in South-Central Colorado and is known for its stunning scenery and outdoor adventure opportunities. With it’s beautiful mountains and picturesque backdrops, it also makes it onto my list of 25 epic Colorado elopement locations! 

If you and your partner are outdoor enthusiasts and want to incorporate outdoor activities into your wedding celebrations, then Breckenridge may be perfect for you! It offers hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting, biking, and so much more! Then imagine ending your nights staying in the charming mountain towns with boutique shops, breweries, and great dining experiences! Check out these Breckenridge tips before your visit!

2. Buena Vista, Colorado

Think mountain settings and beautiful landscapes. Buena Vista, Colorado is another location that you can't go wrong in choosing. It's located in the Eastern part of Colorado and offers a charming and quaint little town which really adds to the romantic experience of planning an intimate Colorado elopement. You'll also get amazing views of Collegiate Peaks!

Just like many of these locations. Buena Vista also offers many adventure sports, activities and attractions that you and your partner can dabble in such as skiing, hiking, mountain biking, ziplining, and more! If you and your partner are looking for a gorgeous yet adventurous elopement experience, Buena Vista is perfect for you!

3. Boulder, Colorado

Whether you're looking to exchange your vows on a mountain peak or on a beautiful forested trail, Boulder is one of the most beautiful Colorado elopement locations! You can find Boulder in the Eastern part of Colorado. Boulder also serves as the perfect mountain experience where you can come back for the city vibes if you're looking for a good mix of both.

Boulder also offers plenty of wedding venues, but if you're looking for more of an adventurous and intimate experience, there are also plenty of gorgeous locations we can check out with the most epic backdrops!

If you're into art, Boulders art and culture scene is great! It offers plenty of museums, art galleries, and even live performances year round! With an abundance of outdoor activities, cultural attractions, and breweries, you're sure to have a memorable experience!

4 & 5. Rocky Mountain National Park & Grand County, Colorado

Both Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand County, Colorado offer gorgeous scenery and breathtaking views! You truly can't go wrong in choosing to elope at these locations!

Rocky Mountain National Park

Do you imagine being surrounded by majestic towering mountains while saying your "I Do's"? Rocky Mountain National Park may be right up your alley! With lush forest, beautiful mountain backdrops, and clear lakes, it's one of the best Colorado elopement locations!

Grand County, Colorado

Aside from the beauty of the National Park, Grand County also offers tons of activities and things to do. Think fishing skiing, hiking, and so much more! If eloping in Rocky Mountain National Park with the love of your life and then exploring all of the outdoor activities Grand County has to offer sounds like the perfect plan, then I suggest keeping these Colorado elopement locations on your list!

6. Estes Park, Colorado

Estes Park, Colorado is another beautiful location that offers both a forest and mountain setting all in one. It's located in Northern Colorado perfectly nestled in the Rocky Mountains!

 Whether you're looking for a wedding on the mountaintops, within the towering lush forest, or next to one of the beautiful crystal clear lakes that Estes Park has to offer, it's sure to be absolutely breathtaking! Looking for something along the lines of a wedding experience? There's no shortage of gorgeous Estes Park wedding venues, either!

Just like many of these epic Colorado elopement locations on the list, Estes Park also offers many outdoor opportunities and things to do. It also has such a charming and quaint little town to explore! Keep in mind Estes Park can get pretty busy, so if you're looking for a more secluded location, this may not be for you!

7. Winter Park, Colorado

Winter Park is another one of Colorado's charming and cozy Colorado elopement locations, and perfect for an intimate wedding celebration! You'll find Winter Park in North-Central Colorado.

With cozy lodges to stay at, checking out the outdoor activities and things to do like Winter Park Ski Resort for hitting the slopes, and scenic Gondola Rides, you're sure to have a great time is this Colorado town!

8. Crested Butte, Colorado

If you dream of eloping in the spring or summer surrounded by wildflowers, or in a quaint little Colorado towns with skiing opportunities or summer/fall activities, then Crested Butte is perfect for you! Located in western Colorado, this is a location you do not want to miss out on.

9. Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs has so much to offer when searching for the best Colorado elopement locations. It's located in the central part of Colorado near the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains! Just like many of these Colorado locations, it offers epic views and picturesque backdrops. It also has plenty of activities and things to do.

One thing that is unique to Colorado Springs is that you could opt to hike or drive up to the iconic Pikes Peak or explore Garden of The Gods as part of your Colorado elopement experience! 10. Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado

If you're looking for an even more remote location, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado is perfect! It's located in North-Central Colorado, and offers a beautiful setting if you're looking to be surrounded by lush greenery, the wilderness, and with beautiful mountain views mixed in!

With over 73 thousand acres , 50 lakes, and 28 trails, you and your partner are sure to have a great time exploring this beautiful Colorado location. If you love hiking, fishing, and camping, you can also make it a little vacation!

11. Telluride, Colorado

Located in Southwestern Colorado, Telluride offers breathtaking vistas and beautiful landscapes. It makes for the perfect location for a Colorado elopement! Telluride offers tons of winter activities and summer activities including trails, skiing, waterfalls, and so much more!

Another thing that's great about Telluride is that it's close to Dunton Hot Springs, which is a 1800's ghost town turned luxury resort! Definitely recommend checking that one out.

12 & 13. Ouray & Silverton, Colorado

Ouray and Silverton, Colorado are both located in Southwestern Colorado in the San Juan Mountains and only about 20ish miles from one another. Both are beautiful Colorado elopement locations within the mountains!

Ouray, Colorado

You may want to consider Ouray as it's well known as the "Switzerland of America". If being surrounded by San Juan's 13,000-foot peaks sounds incredible, then Ouray may be for you! With the most gorgeous mountain views, charming Victorian style architecture, backroads for miles (off-roading fun!), Hot Spring Pool, and an epic Ice Park, there is so much to do and see in Ouray!

Silverton, Colorado

On the other hand, Silverton is a historic mining town with picturesque views, historic Narrow Gauge Railroad, Gold Mine Tours, and gorgeous mountain vistas! While it's a bit smaller than Ouray, it's still unique in itself and offers so much beauty and charm!

14. Denver, Colorado

Denver is another one of the many popular Colorado elopement locations. It's located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the western region of Colorado! It offers city vibes, but also natural beauty and mountain views for those who are looking for the best of both worlds. Furthermore, there is no shortage in wedding vendors or venues if you're looking for a florist or intimate wedding venue for your Colorado elopement!

With plenty of places to stay, great food and drink options, and things to do, Denver is sure to check off all of your boxes!

15. Aspen, Colorado

If you're on the hunt for beautiful lakes, lush forests, and picturesque mountains, then Aspen, Colorado is another stunning location to add to your list of considerations. Located in central Colorado, Aspen not only offers plenty of natural beauty in itself, but you'll also find a quaint little downtown area to explore delicious restaurants, boutique shops, and cozy little places to stay during your time here!

Did you know that Aspen is home to the most photographed mountains in North America, known as The Moon Bells? It's a sight to see and I definitely recommend if you choose Aspen as your Colorado elopement location! Aside from that, Aspen offers plenty of experiences and things to do such as art museums, music, culture, shopping, skiing and snowboarding opportunities!

16. Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Steamboat Springs is located in northwest Colorado and offers a stunning mountain backdrop, many wedding venues if you want one for your intimate elopement, and outdoor activities galore. It's well known for skiing and it's hot springs! If you're looking for a more intimate setting to take in the beauty that Colorado has to offer, then Steamboat Springs is a great location.

Learn all about the western heritage of Steamboat Springs, check out the hot springs, and plenty of activities such as horseback riding, guided UTV tours, and even fishing cruises! This location is definitely an outdoor lovers paradise!

17 & 18. Vail & Beaver Creek Colorado Elopement Locations

Vail and Beaver Creek are only about 15ish minutes apart from one another, and located in the western Colorado. They are great options to consider when you're looking for Colorado elopement locations!

Vail, Colorado

Vail, Colorado is a great location for your elopement because it's a beautiful mountain town with villages that offers stellar views, many lodging options, and tons of activities! It's easily accessible to other cities in the Rocky Mountains, making it convientalty located.

Beaver Creek, Colorado

Beaver Creek is also another one of the many stunning Colorado elopement locations to consider! It has beautiful Rocky Mountain views, outdoor activities galore, and just like with Vail, you'll have easy access to other major cities. Beaver Creek can also be a more affordable option when it comes to eloping. The cost of living is lower, and there are more budget friendly accommodation options as well!

19. Grand Junction, Colorado

You might consider eloping in Grand Junction, Colorado for it's gorgeous vistas, mountain scenery, historic buildings, and outdoor activities! Located in western Colorado, it's the largest city between Denver and Salt Lake City.

From fun activities such as guided tours, salons, spa's, shopping, hiking, and so much more, you're sure to have a memorable time in Grand Junction for your Colorado elopement! You'll also find delicious food and drink options, as well as great accommodations in the area from hotels, motels, B&B's, and camping/RV opportunities!

20. Great Sand Dunes National Park

Great Sand Dunes National Park is located in southern Colorado and is one of the biggest sand dunes in the world! It sits on over 13,000 acres, and is such a beauty. This location can be very accessible and also offers tons of amenities! Their are specific elopement sites within the park where you'll be surrounded by beautiful views of the dunes and even mountain views!

From activities such as hiking, sandboarding, creek swimming, horseback riding, and so much more, you're sure to have the best time! They even have accessible sand chairs so if you or a family member want to join in on the fun, you/they can! Extend your stay with camping or lodging in or near the park!

21. Mesa Verde National Park

You'll find Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado near Cortez. This National Park is best known for it's ruins, ancient artifacts, and cliff dwellings! It's so beautiful and unique in it's own way. If you love the outdoors and have a love for history, this is the PERFECT Colorado elopement location for you! It also offers an intimate setting with beautiful surrounding's.

22 & 23. Idaho Springs & Georgetown Colorado Elopement Locations

Located about 1.5 hours away from one another you'll find Idaho Springs and Georgetown, Colorado. These are located in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado. You'll find that these locations may be a bit touristy due to how close they are to ski resorts, but still beautiful nonetheless.

Idaho Springs, Colorado

You may consider Idaho Springs, Colorado for your elopement because it's a charming little town that doesn't lack in epic views. Just like many of these Colorado locations, you'll find plenty to do for adventure sports and outdoor activities like biking, hiking, and more! This is also a Colorado location known for it's hot springs, which is definitely something I recommend checking out during your time here! You'll also find great accommodation options as well.

Georgetown, Colorado

Known as "Vintage Georgetown" because it's charming, unique, and has a lot of history behind it! It was originally established in 1895 and still has quite a bit of preserved architecture and historic significance.

You'll love Georgetown if you like history and the beauty that Colorado has to offer. With activities such as train tours, hiking, historic museums and sites, and great places to eat and drink, you definitely won't get bored if you choose to elope in Georgetown! You'll also find plenty of charming accommodations as well.

24. Leadville, Colorado

Located in central Colorado you'll find Leadville. If you're looking for a very laid back location with tons to do, see, and great food to eat, then Leadville might be right up your alley. With mountains, forests, and much more, you'll find yourself wanting to explore every inch of this adventurous Colorado town.

You'll find activities such as off-roading, hunting, historic tours, winter biking, and tons of other activities to keep you and/or your guests entertained! You'll have access to restaurants close by and different kinds of accommodations like B&B's motels, camping, etc.!

25. Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park

Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park is located in southwestern Colorado in the Gunnison River Basin. It's actually one of the deepest canyons in the United States, and is the narrowest portion of the Gunnison River! If you're looking for adventure with beautiful views and rugged cliffs, then Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park is perfect for you!

Here you'll find fun things to do such as scenic drives, hiking, fishing, and stargazing! If you're into Astronomy, check out the Black Canyon Astronomy Festival that happens every year. Black Canyon also offers two different campgrounds, so if you're looking for accommodations, consider staying overnight for extra fun!
